薛家楹
薛家楹 Chia Ying Hsueh (1921-2015)
浙江宁海人,1921年12月生。在南京读完中学,1943年毕业于浙江大学电机工程系,1945年去美国留学,得博士学位,后专攻无线电电脑专业,曾参加美国第一代至第四代电脑的程序设计。现为美国无线电公司(R·C·A)的高级工程师。颇有学术研究,及专业著作发表。
Chia Ying Hsueh, former resident of Warminster, for over 35 years, passed away Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at his home in Staten Island, N.Y. He was 93.
Born in Hangzhou, China, Dec. 27, 1921, he was the beloved husband of Hui-Ju Zhang Hsueh and the late Rosemary Sun King Hsueh.
He was the loving father of Benjamin Hsueh, Linda Hsueh, Margaret Hsueh Peters and Nancy Hsueh Beggs. He was the loving stepfather of Peili Li and Li Li. Also surviving are his grandchildren whom he adored, David, Lauren and Alexander Salz, Elizabeth and Grant Peters, Sarah, Timothy and Christina Beggs, along with his step grandchildren, Sophia and Barron Dang and Emily Wu. He will also be missed by his sons-in-law, Alan Salz, Greg Peters and Joseph Beggs.
Mr. Hsueh was a graduate of Zhejiang (Chekiang) University. He came to the United States in 1945. After post-graduate work at the University of Oklahoma and Michigan, Mr. Hsueh worked as an electrical engineer with RCA (GE) for many years, retiring with over 30 years of service. During his time there, he received many U.S. patents as well as an Emmy.
Mr. Hsueh was an avid Duplicate Bridge player and was very proud to have achieved Silver Life Master status, within 10 years, by his 90th birthday.
